Re: when do they cut from 2 naps to 1?

Brinlee was between 18 months and 24 months when she went from 2 naps to 1 nap... and at age 2 1/2 she decided she didn't want to take naps anymore at all!

Ironically, the day that she started potty training and she gave up her pacifier, is the exact same day she decided she no longer needed a nap.

Oh I wish she still took naps!

Both of my girls did around 15 months, but their afternoon nap became longer (around 3 hours).

Re: when do they cut from 2 naps to 1?

my 2.5yo cut out the second nap around ... oh its been a long year lol i want to say it was about 18-20 months. we finally got him on a real schedule around 8 months old (meaning not just sleeping where he falls or on us lol)

my twins didn't start taking naps scheduled until they hit about 9 months.. maybe shortly after. up until then they would just fall sleep on the floor whenever they decided they were tired lol. now they take 2-3 naps a day, depending on how the day gets screwed up lol. but mostly it's 2 naps, the first of which is 1.5-2 hours, sometimes up to 3. and the second only an hour. but they need it! they go to bed at 7pm and are beyond exhuasted by then.

My 18 month old generally still takes 2 naps a day. Sometimes she only takes 1. She needs a total of about 3 hours naptime every day and she sleeps through the night (8:30 pm-7am).

Re: when do they cut from 2 naps to 1?

I'm glad you posted this question, because DS still naps 2x/day at 1 year, but it has been a struggle getting him to go to sleep earlier than 8:30-9:00, and we're wondering if we should cut out the afternoon nap and hopefully he'll go to sleep earlier. But I also want him to get enough sleep, and he only sleeps 9-10 hours at night, so he really needs his naps.

Everything I have read/seen says you dont cut out hte afternoon but the morning. So say if you guy naps at 9 am till 10:30 and then again at 2 pm you would try and keep him up longer for the morning nap until he gets to about 12-1 pm and then put him down. Everything I have seen says that typcially when they go to one they take an afternoon nap that is between 2-3 hours long. I thought i remember seeing somewhere that at one year they need 12-14 hours a day depending on the child.

We are having the same issue!! He is taking 2 naps but the last week and just sat running around his crib for almost 2 hours every night. He normally goes to bed between 7-7:30. So i dont know what to do either!! We are thinking of trying to cut out the morning nap and see if that makes him go to sleep at night but at time he seems like he still needs it! who knows!

ETA: he wakes between 7-8am every day most days its 7:30.
