ISO HELP!!!
I am working on opening a pretty "crunchy" store. My main focus will be cloth diapers and baby wearing. Yes, you heard right, a brick and mortar store front that actually sells CLOTH DIAPERS!! YAY!!
So, I need to do some market research and figure out what I need to sell. I know I'll need to stock a lil bit of everything, but I'd like to find out what is most popular in the cd-ing community. Lmk if there's anything I'm forgetting! Thanks so much mamas!!

Re: ISO HELP!!!
I voted for prefolds. They're cheap enough that you can have a good amount on hand, and people can come in and grab a few. Also, since you can use them as burp towels, people will be likely to grab them to go with other stuff too.

Re: ISO HELP!!!
I don't have a B&M but I do sell mostly to new-to-cloth local mamas. They mostly are into prefolds/covers and One-Size pockets. I really find though that whatever you are into tends to be what you suggest, which tends to be what your customers will buy
Good luck with your store!! |

Re: ISO HELP!!!
I voted for fitteds, but that's because I'm really like the all natural fabrics. Down here in the South it gets very humid and PUL from the pockets makes my ds very red and raw. My favorite material is hemp. It absorbs SO great!!!!

Re: ISO HELP!!!
If interested parties not yet CDing checks it out - I would go for ease of use. OS Pockets and AIOs. Those are easy to get ppl started on. Wish someone would open a store here in the SF Bay Area.

Re: ISO HELP!!!
For beginners, one size pockets are the easiest.
Prefolds are cheaper, but have a learning curve, so some might be turned off by that. I would stock BG OS, BG Organic, Green Mountain Diapers Prefolds, and hemp Cricketts (2 sizes available and only $13 a diaper made by a WAHM who is very very very fast in her turnaround. Cricketts come with a snap in soaker, and are night worthy for most babies). PS: Where in Southern Indiana are you? There are at least two stores in Bloomington that sells cloth diapers and natural parenting items. http://www.naturalelementsshop.com/ http://www.barefoot-eco.com/

Re: ISO HELP!!!
I am in Bloomington, but I feel that those 2 stores focus more on mama products than baby products AND they are VERY limited in the brands they sell. My main focus will be on cd-ing and bw-ing. Also, both of the owners at natural elements don't even cd!! So when I went in there when I first started cd-ing, they couldn't really even help a mama out! So, I'm hoping that I will be able to corner the market a lil better and focus more on the baby products than the mama (although there will be things in there for her!!)

Re: ISO HELP!!!
I agree with OS pockets and AIOs. Then the mamas can haul their dhs in and show them it's not so scary
