Dishwasher stripping question
Okay we have been getting a lot of stink lately with our diapers. Gross.
It's really bugging my DH and just makes him complain about using cloth even more. I have been reading everything about the dishwasher and stripping diapers and I am wondering why the dishwasher?? What does it do that is different from the washer?? The only thing I can think of is that the dishwasher gets really hot but can't I just turn the water heater up super high and rinse rinse rinse?? Just wondering what the washer does?? Also why do I have stink, like ammonia?? It's mostly the night diaper after her sleeping all night for 14 hours or more straight. And then the diapers when I got to wash them after sitting for a couple days. No stink when we change her during the day after a normal pee/poo. Am I using too much soap?? I use only a tiny amount but I guess I could only use a teaspoon measure and just that. I also wash with Washing soda every once in a while. I use the organic detergent Simply Clean laundry detergent it doesn't have any enzymes, fabric softener, brighteners, scents, dyes or any phospahtes. Really nothing. LOL So any ideas?? I am getting a whole lot of used kissaluvs coming to me and some FB so I am thinking about doing the dishwasher thing but kind of wondering what's the reason to use the dishwasher and worried about doing something to my super amazing really expensive kitchen aid dishwasher. LOL And of course the diapers too.

Re: Dishwasher stripping question
i think its the way the water gets in the dishwasher, its hotter, theres the heating element to keep it hot, it sprays, you have steam.......i think the water dripping off them instead of being emeresed in the dirty water helps too.

No don't boil if they have snaps. You can do the dishwasher thing with them having snaps though! I did the dishwasher thing yesterday, but this morning my night diaper that ds#2 wear was still stinky like amonia!

Re: Dishwasher stripping question
I talked with my DH about it last night and he would rather me not do it. So I guess I will just do it in the washer.
Also we figured out that our dishwasher has the Jetdry kind of hole thingy where you top it up and it's just in the machine all the time and we don't think there is a way to take it out without using it up. So anyway I am going to try the good ole washing machine way. I'm too chicken to try the dishwasher. LOL
