vax and preschool question

Are all vax's required for preschool? How do you get around not vaxing your child for preschool? My DD will be going in septemeber and we do not want to do the chicken pox vax, I'm wondering if we will have a problem with that and entering school?

Then for my DS in two years when he goes we have been doing a slower vax. scheduel...

Re: vax and preschool question

Every state has medical exemptions (really hard to get), all but 2 have religious exemptions, and some also have philosophical. Look here to see which your state offers, and you should be able to find what you need to do to get an exemption for your kids:

Re: vax and preschool question

The chicken pox vaccine isn't required by law anywhere. They can push it, but they can't refuse entry based on not having that vax/not having a waiver.

Personal experience, I sent my youngest to a daycare/preschool while he was in the middle of his delayed vax schedule. I had to work, so I sent him to a very gentle Christian place right around the corner from my job. Anyhow, they had no problems with the letter I typed stating my "religious" exemption based on the research I'd done and why I refused certain shots.
Left DS because of lack of virus control.

Re: vax and preschool question

preschool is harder..

If it's state run.. no problem, they have to go by the state laws, which is unvaccinated students can attend as long as they have a wavier of some sort.. if it's private they can play by thier own rules and allow or not allow non vaccinated students. but you gotta check into what's actually required and what's just recomended. they are two very different things.

Miranda is skipping preschool because all they have around here is Religous preschools, not to mention cost and transportation. lol
