To take her in or not? need advice

Hannah woke up crying at around 3am Dh went to check on her and could not figure out what was wrong she did end up falling back to sleep and then around 5am she woke up again screaming like crazy he went back to check on her and realized she had been twirling her hair around her finger and it was tightly wound around the base of her finger it was really swollen and purple I franticly cut the hair off and call the nurses line to find our what I should do or look for
he said take her to the ER im pretty sure they have to tell you that for liability reasons??
she seem fine but it is still swollen and slightly purple.

Mine have done that on several occasions. Yes they have to tell you that for liability. If the swelling continues to go down and her finger color goes back to normal she should be fine. My ds#1 did that to his toe and it was swollen for about half the day but went down to normal.

My oldest DS would do that evrytime he went to sleep. I can't begin to tell you how many times he would wake up at night....
Just massage it to get the blood flowing again. She should be fine. I say just keep an eye on it and all will be well.

Re: To take her in or not? need advice

We had a hair twirler too! I know all about cutting hair off of little fingers! And the hair that I didn't cut off, she pulled out! No kidding, I just had to cut her hair because the right side was about 2" longer than the left!

Thinking back, it started with fleece and other soft fabrics....she HAD to have it! In fact, we even bought her a pair of fuzzy slipper socks at one point. She wore one on her left hand while she sucked her right thumb! After the fabric it was the hair twirling. She's recently stopped that, but now plays with her ear!

How's her finger now?

Thanks mamas! I did massage her finger a bunch and it looks way better
It just freaked me out so bad I never would have thought she could twirl her hair that much and it would do that
Well last night I decided she was going to bed with her hair in braids
she didn't sleep very well and I'm wondering if its because she couldn't twirl her hair??
