I have no idea why but the ammonia smell is creaping back. I've done nothing different at all. I hope it's not that the detergent is not effective! Grr. FL!

Yes, Lisa...are you using one? I wetpail with water and Bac Out. We had been stink free for 2 or maybe 3 weeks.
So I washed this morning and added another TB of the detergent. We'll see how it goes with the newly washed dipes.

I am going to start using one TODAY b/c I can not handle that smell do you put everything (pockets, cover, inserts, etc) in the wet pail?? or do you put some in a hanging bag?? any help is appreciated! I am not sure what I did wrong all of the sudden I have stripped most of them and everything. I probably should take ALL my diapers to an economy washer at the laundry mat and strip them all and start over?? any one ever try this??

If I use Simple Green instead of the Borax, do i still do about a Cup? or do I need more b/c I'm turning it from a powder detergent to a liquid version?

Ok, so after those few that smelled ammonia-ish I haven't been smelling any more funky ones. I wonder why those few smelled funky? At least I'm feeling more confident that the wet pail is still working!
We don't use pockets - just pfs, MF/hemp, wool/obv and zorb doublers and covers. I wet pail only the pfs and all the doublers. My wool and PUL get handwashed and my fleece gets thrown into the washer after I do a spin and a rinse with the wet pail'd stuff. Not sure about pockets so maybe you can ask around...I think I heard that wet pailing pockets is a no go.
Before I started to wet pail I boiled all my pfs and doublers in a big pot on the stove. It took a few rounds to get everything boiled but I was sure the stink was out after that.
You could totally go to a laundromat instead. I would've done that but I'm lazy, lol!
Let us know how it goes!

I'd just mix the washing soda and oxyclean and then just add a squirt of simple green to each load. Then you don't have to worry about storing a liquid...just the bottle of SG and the powdered detergent.

Good idea! Next question I have is are you talking about using regular kind (already in spray bottle) or concentrated form?

Just a note about the washing soda. I emailed arm and hammer directly and the replied with a list of the 8 closest stores to me that carried it. It too them over a week to reply, but they did!
