Thirsties Superwash System - My review

Throughout two years of cding I have tried it all! I've done everything from WAHM detergents, to making my own, nearly all the options on the bg website including being a tester for their detergent last year, and even used tide. They all have their problems. I have had to strip and that is just no fun. Now that dd is here and I have two in diapers I had to find a hassle-free and worry-free solution. I bit the bullet and paid the $.50 a load (sounds better than $32 for 32 oz of prewash and 32 of detergent) for the new Thristies detergent.

I was doing this:
cold rinse/wash
hot wash / cold rinse w/ tide (1/2 way to line 1)
warm wash/cold rinse w/ nothing added

I occassionally (but more times than not) had to do ANOTHER warm/cold to get clear rinsing water.

My diapers were clean, but they still smelled like Tide ... We are Gain people.

I got the superwash a week ago.

I observed.

cold wash/rinse w/ .5oz prewash
hot wash/ cold rinse w/ .5oz superwash

And get this... When I peaked in during the beginning of the rinse of the hot/cold cycle (rechecked at end to confirm) the water was clear.

My diapers are clean. They don't smell like sweat, they don't smell like poop, they don't hint of pee, they don't even have the slightest touch of mineral smell... I couldn't be happier.

I absolutely love how dumby-proof the measuring system is. After I pour in the cleaner, I go ahead and set it up to .5oz for the next load. I was even able to call dh and tell him to just set for the wash, take the lid to the compartment off and pour in the detergent and he didn't have to measure. He didn't over dose my diapers.

i haven't tried it yet, but everyone I know that has loves it... it is just the price that is hard to swallow, but breaking it down to .50/load does help it not seem so bad

I'm glad you had good results with it. For some reason, my diapers still aren't getting totally clean with it. I'm still using it 'cause I'm going to test out the Rockin' Green I just got in the mail today, but ah well. I had really been hoping it would be THE ONE, you know? (I too have tried tons of detergents and am just so tired of it).

That is the only way I could justify it. Of course, now I am sold!

BGOS, KL0's, GM's, PP's, WHAM terry fitteds, BSRB's, and multiple makes of pul covers.

We have a diverse stash.

I haven't washed any pfs in it yet as dd is b/w sizes.

I use it and LOVE it! I've been using it for at least two months now and am totally happy with it. (Before that, I had tried Tide, Allens, Crunchy Clean, and Country Save.) I use organic Flip diapers during the day and pockets with microfiber and hemp at night.
