Re: Diaper Stink/Diaper Stripping Remedies

I wash my diapers with ALL Free and Clear (always set the washer to full load, HOT, with enough detergent for a small load). If they ever get a bit of a stench (or stain, for that matter), I just put it in the sun. Believe it or not, the sun takes out the stains and stench! NO JOKE!

TAKE THE LID OFF OF THE PAIL! I found that when i did that, the stink of the diapers was gone and stayed gone. Of course you have to strip them if you use detergent (I use homemade soap...you can get it at www.spindletosashes.com) but for the most part....the lid gone helps ALOT!

I used 3 Tbsp of 7th Gen non-chlorine bleach this past weekend. It worked like a charm on my stinky dipes

O, and I added it to the regular wash.

Yep. And occasionally soak and rinse them with water softener and nothing else for no good reason too. Do it when they're already clean just for the heck of it every few months. Then rinse them a couple more times.

Re: Diaper Stink/Diaper Stripping Remedies

I'm sorry....I'm still fairly new to CDing (6 months) and I use 99% BG 3.0 dipes. They have horrible ammonia smell when DS pees in them and I have tried using dawn to strip the inserts. No luck. My regular wash includes cold/cold full cycle with nothing in it. Hot wash/cold rinse with soap to the 1 line of All Free & Clear. Then probably 4-5 cold rinses. My questions are...
Should I be doing something differently?
Is bleach okay for BG -- both inserts and cover?
Is vinegar okay for same?
I don't want to ruin my diapers!
