FBs as covers?

I bought some FBs new for dd and ds. Turns out ds gets a rash every time he wears them (fleece allergy I think). I bought them brand new and have ds who will eventually grow into them so I hate to sell them but I also hate them sitting around not getting used. I have some gerber prefolds and I was wondering if anyone had ever used FBs as a cover. Also, I have no clue as to how a prefold works (other than as a spit rag, ). Is there someplace that has instructions or a how-to-prefold?

Personally, I'd just tri-fold it and lay them in. Although, gerber pre-folds unless you have the DSQ ones, aren't very absorbant.

It would be perfectly fine to use them as a cover or an AI2 since your laying in the prefold. Just fold in thirds and you are good to go!

I don't know if you sew, but if you wanted to get some really good absorbancy, you could trifold a microfiber towel from the auto dept. at Walmart and sew flannel on top (so the skin isn't against the microfiber-though it doesn't bother my girl even when it is). You could even lay it flat and then sew a square of flannel and then trifold it. Microfiber will hold a lot more than a Gerber prefold. You could also, for extended times, put the microfiber/flannel on top and stuff the pocket with the prefold.

I LOVE TO SEW!!!! I use to make ds clothes, but alas, my sewing machine was stolen about a year ago and I haven't had the money to replace it but that is a great ideas about the auto towels!
