Re: thrush?
I know way more than I ever really wanted to because I stuggled with it, both in my babies mouth and on and in my breasts. If she thinks the baby might have it, make sure the takes a clean wash cloth (or something with a little roughness) and try to wipe where the thrush is, if it goes away it is just milk curd (that happened twice when I thought it wasn't going away) if it stays on and even gets a little red then it is thrush (it may bleed just a tiny bit but you need to know for sure so you can properly treat it.) Have her do that first. Some new moms do think that if the baby has white spots it is automatically thrush and that is just not the case. If she is nursing, and she has it too she will get burning sensation on and in the nipple, sometimes even deep down. Now that really is a pain to get rid of and take a lot of patience. But that is getting way ahead of the game. Do make sure it is for sure thrush first.

Re: thrush?
The pp advice is good! Have her take baby into the doc to make sure it is thrush. For me, Bella never got the white spots just red in her mouth and gums, but she clucked while nursing and would pull off and cry. And I got it very badly as well. The one thing that is really important is to make sure that if baby has it, mom gets treated as well, even if she has no symptoms. Bella and I kept passing it back and forth, and never got rid of it until we were treated at the same time, even though she showed no signs of it then. HTH!
