Help! Bleeding nipple during pregnancy??
Sorry if this is TMI, but I am a little concerned.
I am eighteen weeks pregnant with twins, and I noticed today that there was something dark on one of my nipples. I gently rubbed it off, and my nipple started to lightly bleed. Nothing major, about two drops. But, I am completely freaked out. I am hoping that it's just that my nipple was dry and cracked maybe, which caused it to bleed?? I called my doctor (waiting for a call back because it's Saturday), and I hope that he will let me know what's going on. Has anyone else had this happen while pregnant? I'm so concerned that if I'm having issues with cracked nipples now that I'm going to have a much harder time nursing my twins. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Re: Help! Bleeding nipple during pregnancy??
I am not sure about what you're having but sounds like a scab or something came off and then it bled, I wouldn't be too concerned. I nursed my DD for 14 months and it was like my nips (just the tips) were hard and tough during nursing and about 1/2 was through this pregnancy, the dead skin started falling off, it was a little weird, but not concerning.

Re: Help! Bleeding nipple during pregnancy??
Thanks mama! My OB called me back, and he said that they were probably just cracked and that caused the bleeding. He suggested getting some cream (like you'd use when breastfeeding) with lanolin.
Is Lansinoh the best type to get? Or is there something else that would be better? Anyone else have experience with cracked nipples?

Re: Help! Bleeding nipple during pregnancy??
I'd get Lansinoh, just be sure to warm it up by rubbing it between your fingers for a while...it'll spread on easier ; )
