Re: How old was Grandma when she became Grandma?

My mom was 37 when my brother had his oldest and 41 when i had my first which was also the same year that both my brother's had a little boy as well. My older brother's baby was born 5 days before mine, then my little brother had a little boy 1 month after DS was born.

My mom was 49 - she had me (oldest of 5) when she was 32, but I had DD #1 when I was 17. She comments now (she has mod/sev RA) that she is so glad she was a "younger" grandma. Now at 61, she has 5 grandchildren & one on the way!

I was 16 when I had DD so that made my mom in her early 40's

Re: How old was Grandma when she became Grandma?

My mom was a few weeks shy of 43 when my ds1 was born and she became a grandma. I was 21 and my dh was a couple weeks away from 22.

My dh's mom was a grandma at 31 because his sister had a baby when his sister was 16 and my dh was only 6. So my dh became an uncle at 6. SO my mil was 47 when ds1 was born but she had already been a grandma for 16 years.

Re: How old was Grandma when she became Grandma?

My Mom became a grandma at age 39, but not by me. My sister had her first DD on her 21st birthday when my Mom was 39. I didn't have my first child until my Mom was 47. My MIL didn't become a grandma until our DS was born & he was born 2 days after she turned 50.

Re: How old was Grandma when she became Grandma?

Margo is my mom's first and only grandchild - she was born when my mom was 67. I was 34 when Margo was born. Of course, my mom had me late, too - at age 32.
