Has anyone ever made home-made finger paint?

depends on your ingredients. Mine kept for about a month or so but it was basically flour and water with a few other things.

it never lasts long enough to worry about it in my house...lol but I use flour, water, and coloring, so I would guess it would last a couple weeks

Thanks, I want to make some for the kids and was wondering if it was worth making in a big batch or on a as needed basis.

Mine is too young (6 months) don't you think? And I was thinking about this very thing the other day when I was trying to get his hand prints and he sure was eating the paint I was using....NOT good. Don't report me, I stopped him of course, but it's probably not the best thing LOL

PS: 3rdontheway. I was hoping my Jan08 baby would be the 14th (that's my sister's birthday) but he came on the 11th though.

Here's the recipes I have but haven't tried yet:

[U][B]Uncooked fingerpaint[[B]/U]:

1 c. flour 1 1/2 tsp salt 1 c water food coloring

mix flour, salt and water. Mixture will be grainy. Add desired food coloring.

Cooked fingerpaint:

1 c. flour 2 tsp. salt 3 c. cold water 2 c. boiling water
food coloring

Mix flour and salt in electric skillet add cold water and stir until smooth. Add hot water and stir until boiling. Boil until clear then add desired food coloring. Mix until smooth.

apple sauce or pudding works good as fingure paints too! and its nontoxic/edable!

Mine usually only keeps about 30~ hours. THen it starts to get kinda ... yeasty? I don't bother to keep it over night anymore. But I did find that i could make little aluminum foil bowls and then I didn't have anything to clean up. Of course, I haven't tried the cooked kind yet. I think I will...::dashes off::
