A baby doll that's not plastic and... annoying??

My dd loves dolls, but she really seems to be into babies right now. My mother got her a wonderful Waldorf doll for Christmas, but she has not really grown into it yet, she still may be too young. She dragged home this disgusting baby doll from daycare the other day (refused to leave without it) and the thing was just horrible. It had half an eye missing, pen marks all over it, had no clothes on, and just seemed NASTY. Nevertheless, she LOVED the thing and carried it everywhere until the next day when we were able to return it to daycare.

I would much rather get her a nice baby doll than risk having that other doll end up in our house again. DH took one look at it and said "that thing has pink eye written all over it."

So... my question. I love Waldorf dolls, but they are super $$$ and we already have one for later that she does like ("Dolly"). Is there a natural or semi-natural baby doll out there? The plastic ones freak me out with all the pthalate news going on and you can't seem to find one that's simple anymore.

Thanks for any imput!

Here's a few waldorf dolls starting at around $30 - http://www.willowtreetoys.com/category/1b/ Very cute, too.

If you're crafty at all you can make one easily. I've knit everything from Eeyore to the holy family without much difficulty.

Nova naturals has a waldorf doll for $40 and it's really really cute.

There are also the baby bottoms dolls, they are only about $20 and anatomically correct.

Or there are some on Etsy in a similar range.

I love corolle dolls. Everything about them is sooo sweet, from the clothing to the accesories. It even have a vanilla smell. The head is plastic and the tip of the arms and legs, the abdomen is filled cloth.

I always have thought baby Stella was a cute baby doll. She's by Manhatton toys and seems like a nice little doll from what I've seen.

Thank you, mamas, for the suggestions. Yeah, she was even asking for her "baby" this morning. She was refering to the nasty doll from daycare. She likes her Waldorf "dolly" but LOVES the baby dolls, so I'm really looking for one that is a baby. I may need to hint this to mom or MIL and send some of your links.
