My first botched attempt at kool-aid & wool, HELP

Well I would post a picture but I dont how. It is rather funny looking and I know why. I followed the instructions on this site exactly as typed but the wool just was to lanolized. I got it off of DS and when I got it it had stains and was really waxy. It was in bad shape but the mamma didn't tell me how bad. I washed in warm water with lots of dawn 3 times! The stains came out but I thought I got all the lanolizing out because it didn't feel waxy anymore, I guess I was wrong . Now there are patches where the dye didn't absorb.

I want to try to dye again but should I? Would there still be lighter blue patches even after a second dye? Or should I try to spot dye it? I am going to try to get all the lanolin out again but if you have a tip for that let me know. I basically let it soak in warm water with dawn and then agitated it with my hands. I did this 3 times and I thought I would never get all the soap out! I rinsed it all day in the washer until I didn't see any suds.

Tips and ideas welcome

You will most likely have darker spots. There is not really a good way to "undo" that but the spots might look cute after all!

I'd maybe tie die or LWI in a different color. Make it look intentional!

It is a fairly dark terquois in most spots and just dk blue in others. I wish I could post a picture of it. What is a LWI? I am new to the dyeing thing...like you can't already tell right?
