Look What I Made!! (x-post)

I've always wanted a "hooter hider" but couldn't bring myself to fork up $35 for one so last night I decided to just make one myself!

It turned out really well and only took me about 30min (and I so don't know how to sew!)

Well done!
I did however, fork out the money when she was born. When I asked for it as a gift - nobody knew what the heck I was talking about. So, I take it that it isn't too terribly difficult to make? Did you make up a pattern or just kind of eye it?

I just looked at the pictures on their website and figured it out in my head. I've only used a pattern once in my life (for a pair of pants) and it was horrible. I don't have a clue how to use those things! LOL

Good job! My first one took me longer then 30 mins to make. Did you add a pocket on the back side? I did on mine but found that I'd made the pocket too small, lol.

PS I'm not that great with patterns either.

Nope. Is there a pocket on the real ones? I wouldn't know because I've never seen one in real life! LOL A pocket would be nice though...maybe I'll add one.

Also, this is technically my second one as the first one I made out of a fabric that was too heavy for the boning to hold up. They each took me approx. 30 min to make. However, that could be because I've been dreaming about how to make it for a few days now, so it was all planned out in my head! LOL

Yeah, tell me about how to use the boning and where you get it. Did you just make a casing for it or is it sewed on somehow? Thanks!

Re: Look What I Made!! (x-post)

Believe it or not I got the boning at Wal-Mart!! I was getting some elastic for another project and I looked up and there it was!

It's a curved boning and it's pretty thin so I actually have three strips of it on there. I just sewed a casing for it and then secured it by stitching it "closed" at both ends if the boning. Does that make sense? I'll post pics as soon as DD goes down for her nap.

Re: Look What I Made!! (x-post)

I got my boning at JoAnns, they sell it by the yard.
Here is mine and a shot of the back with the pocket...

I needed to make the pocket bigger for my breast pads but it holds a binkie.

Re: Look What I Made!! (x-post)

Oh ok, I think that makes sense. Did it come already curved like that or do you bend it how you want it? About how long is the boning part in yours?
