OMG, please tell me this phase will end soon!
Sean has recently begun screaming and crying whenever I do something that he doesn't like. Examples: closing doors and cupboards so he can't get into them. As soon as I do what he doesn't like he stands there and screams and cries. I'm
Is this just a phase? Will he get over it soon? I hope so!

I hope so, we're dealing with the same thing here
I found that I had to start warning him beforehand - don't touch please and so on. Works about half the time. GL, aren't toddlers FUN?

Re: OMG, please tell this phase will end soon!
Yes it is a phase, but unfortunately it can be a long one for some kids. Tharen still does it some. I think as they get to really talking they get better (less likely to get frustrated) but then you wind up with a child chasing you around screaming "need it need it need it" or "no mommy bad". I don't know if it is much of an improvement. Some kids get stuck on it longer than others, and some kids are more....dramatic I guess than others. My best advice is to ignore him. If he gets a response he is more likely to keep it up. So as long as he can't get hurt I would just pretend you don't hear him and go on with what you are doing. At least the length of the outburst should shorten if nothing else. Good Luck.

Hey, Margo knows this trick! We literally ignore her completely when she starts in. She usually becomes bored right away of being ignored and moves on quickly. It's the hearing loss I'm suffering from her piercing shrieks that I hate

I know it isn't funny, but it kind of is too. I never thought parenting would make me go deaf. My mom always told me that listening to my music too loud was going to effect my hearing, she never mentioned having children.

Re: OMG, please tell me this phase will end soon!
hehe welcome to the terrible 2's...they start WAY before they hit 2...I guess they just get worse maybe?
Yeah it's a phase and hopefully it doesn't last too long for you. lol to the pp who said some kids are more dramatic....my dd isn't quite 18 months and she's always fake crying...including throwing herself on the ground...the other day she was about...5 feet away from me, she threw herself onto the floor and started her fake crying. My dh says 'no one is buying that' so she gets up, moves closer to me so she's more like...2 feet away...throws herself back on the floor and continues her fake cry...then I tell her 'nope, not going to work' and she gets up and runs off.

Oh mama I am right there with you!! I'd take ten screaming babies over that any day!! I hope the phase is a short one for both of us!
