Is Nystatin the only thing that will help? I think ds and I have this, actually I KNOW we have it. Is there anything I can get at the store instead of calling to get a RX?

gentian violet works awesome (if you can find it.) It may turn you a little purple though..lol

We're using gentian violet on ourselves right now. The nystatin did absolutely nothing. Depending on where you live they may have to order the GV for you. Call your pharmacy and ask about it.
Grapefruit seed extract is supposed to help, too - but it was too time consuming for me.

When my ds and I both had thrush when he was about 3 months old, genetian violet worked wonders (and the pictures of him having a purple mouth and lips will forever be classic). I also picked up the MotherLove diaper rash relief which worked amazingly on his bottom and on my nipples.

Chewable Acidophilus tablets worked great for us. Nystatin didn't help and it's VERY hard on baby's liver. I got our tablets at the health food store in our town. The label says it promotes the healthy functioning of teh intestinal system. My chiroprator uses this when his DD gets thrush and recommended it.

Kerry's Herbals makes a thrush fighter kit with this stuff in it:
Black Walnut tincture 2 oz.
Oregon Grape Root tincture 2 oz.
Grapefruit seed extract 2 oz.
Miracle Salve Plus 2 oz.
