How can you even trust your dr when he says stuff like this...

Yesterday I called my dr to make an appt because I know I have a bad throat infection (cant swallow well, fevers, puss in the back of my throat) and I think it's moving to my ears too. Well he said "You better make an appointment for Emilee (DD) too and get her on antibiotics right away because she is going to catch whatever you have through your breastmilk" IT was like "EXCUSE ME???" You don't pass throat infections and ear infections THROUGH BREASTMILK! ARGH How can a dr go to that many years of schooling and then say something so ignorant??? I didn't like this dr in the first place, I only went to him because I needed a bc script and I was too angry to go back to my midwife. So looks like I'm on the search AGAIN for a dr that my medicaide will cover!

I have no thoughts on the whole bf thing, but the symptoms you are describing is what I had about 3 yrs ago. I had an abscess on my tonsils. I had to have them lanced, drained, was on 3 months of antibiotics (so not fun) and then had a tonsilectomy.

If you have tonsils, see if that is what is going on. It sucks.

Well this is my second throat infection in a month, I was perfectly fine for 3 1/2 weeks and it's back (yes I do have tonsils) I went into a walk in clinic last time because it was a Sunday and my third day w/out eating and high fevers, they didn't swab it or anything, just said it was an obvious infection and put me on antibiotics.

Time for a new doctor. I love my doctor and you should really have one that you can trust.

I'm so sorry your doctor is an idiot but I have been there!! If anything your dd is getting the antibodies your body is making and she will fight it off better if she even gets it! I am looking for a new pedi cause mine knows nothing so I totally understand! Good luck on the search for a new doc.

That's exactly what happend to me. I went to the ER and they looked at it and said strep. No throat culture, just a script and I'm on my way. Then I was back the next night after the steroid wore off and I couldn't swallow. The doc took one look and said, "I have to find the specialist". Next thing I know, I'm being wheeled up to a room and being admitted.

I had to have a pick line put in and had to give myself antibiotics via that line, i had a home health nurse, had surgery, etc. Not FUN! Tell the doc to look closely and check for an abscess. Or go to an ENT (ear, nose, throat) doc.

Good luck and I hope you find relief.

NO KIDDING!!! It makes me sick. He is the same dr that told me that hypoglycemia doesn't exhist (BS he even checked my blood sugar while I was there and it was WAY low) and that I should get the HPV vaccine because I'm single. UMM HELLO SINGLE DOESN'T MEAN SLUT

I'm doing a lot better today after a few days on antibiotics. Not much luck on the new dr search but I've been a bit sick and overtired to care at the moment. DD hasn't gotten sick (surprise surprise *rolls eyes*) Hopefully it stays away this time or I'm going to get a referal to an ENT, thanks for suggesting that.
