Can't find the uterus?

I had my first midwife appointment yesturday. I am 14 weeks tomorrow.
Anyways she was feeling around and couldn't find my uterus. Is that weird? She said she should be able to feel it by that point.
However then she found the heartbeat 2 minutes later, 164 beats.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? It just made me a bit nervous. Maybe I am not as far as long as I think I am ... Who Knows!!!
I have an ultrasound on the 18th so I guess I will have to wait to see then.

Re: Can't find the uterus?

was she trying to feel it from the outside? or see it from the inside with an u/s? I would think that by this time even you could feel your uterus from the outside. Should feel hard by your pubic bone.
glad you get to get things checked out again soon.
good luck

Sometimes if the uterus tilts backward (retroverted) it's difficult to palpate.
In your picture, you don't look overweight, but that's another common cause of difficulty!

Re: Can't find the uterus?

I feel a hard lump below my stomach, and when I lie down my stomach sticks out.
She didn't seem overly concerned, but I just thought it was odd.
She was feeling from the outside. And no I am not overweight, I have a little belly flub, but nothing much.
Oh well ... we heard a heartbeat so I shouldn;t worry myself too much.
