wool lovers - convince me! :(

I Have a pair of shorties that i received from a lovely momma who helped me start off cd'ing.

Everytime I put dd in them, after an hour they are stinky and wet. I thought you can just keep "rewearing" the shorties as a cover? I mean, whats the point then of only wearing them for an hour, and then I sit them outside to airdry and get the stinkies away?

please help me.
do i need to do something with them to make them last? or are they supposed to get damp and stinky? I dont want her rolling around in damp shorties, especially in her crib, swing, rug, carseat, etc... cuz it will make everything else stinky and damp... and thats a lot of washing.

please mommas. I have a lot of fitteds and a few covers, and I am changing out the covers every change and don't have enough covers for my fitteds. I dont get it. I really want to get into the wool loving, but I dont see spending x amount on something that needs ot be changed and then sundried after an hour.

I am NOT an expert bc I only have one pair of wool longies. With that being said, when I read your post, I was thinking lanolin.

Have you lanolized them?

You'll need wool wash or lanolin to lanolize your diapers. There is a good video of Green Mountain Diapers on how to do it.

Also, I always put an extra soaker in when we wear wool because DS is a heavy wetter and I'm afraid his wool would get gross if we didn't have the extra soaker.

I use the lanolin that I bought for sore nipples and baby wash. I spent so much on my wool, I had to find a cost effective way to wash it!

There is a great video tutorial on here that I learned from. Let me go find it.... BRB!

Yes, definitely lanolize your wool. It will make all the difference in the world. Also, you may need to change more often or get more absorbent diapers or add some doublers. I've seen some mamas on here say that a cover is only as good as the diaper underneath. Good luck mama

Re: wool lovers - convince me! :(

thanks

so if I do this, does it stop it from getting damp? Thats my biggest problem. I dont want her laying around everywhere with a damp cover for hours. I'm so confused.

Can you use the wool shorties for more than one diaper change?

Here it is:
http://understandinglaura.blogspot.c...t-lanolin.html

Lanolizing your wool will stop the dampness. You should be able to use your wool for a couple of weeks depending on how often your LO wears it.

Oh and it's not a video... I was mistaken! It's all pictures, but very helpful nonetheless.

Re: wool lovers - convince me! :(

Absolutely. You can use the wool shorties for the whole day if the diapers don't get the soaker damp.
