Re: wool lovers - convince me! :(

I'm a wool junkie but don't see how you can get away with one pair for a full day even when properly lanolized. My LO pees little bits frequently and when in wool I have to alternate between two soakers/shorties.
Am I the only one?

Nope, that's exactly what I do! OP, lanolize those babies, and hopefully you'll find the wool love so many of us have found. I would second that need to get at least one more pair, though, for alternating as well as those times when one pair some how gets dirty. GL

as you can tell.. im pretty new to this wool/soaker/fitted/doubler lingo. lol. All I use now are pockets with one microfiber insert and a few aio's. Thats it.

i want to get more, but after my horrid attempts at this one, I can't justify getting more until I perfect the lonely one i have.

Lanolizing your wool will stop the dampness. You should be able to use your wool for a couple of weeks depending on how often your LO wears it.
the link didn't come up for me

soaker is a wool cover pretty much, the ones I make look like wool underwear. doubler is when you put an extra layer in your diaper to soak more up, we use tiny prefolds trifolded as a dooubler at night sometimes, expecially if I grab a thin diaper.

Re: wool lovers - convince me! :(

Oy, only one microfiber insert? And the diaper doesn't leak? I have to use a microfiber insert and then an infant prefold folded in fourths on top stuffed into DD's pockets..but maybe my kiddo is a heavy wetter.

A doubler, in this context, is an added lay-in insert that goes on top of the inner part of the fitted dipe. It just adds more absorption to a fitted, since you can't just stuff another insert in there like a pocket (unless it's a pocket fitted hybrid thing) since the soaker is sewn into the diaper. A soaker, in this context, is a cover to go over your fitted. The word soaker can also refer to the crotch area of the diaper..the part that has all the absorbency in it, like if you were to sew a diaper, the soaker would be the middle where the pee flood would go. A fitted diaper is a diaper that needs a cover, it doesn't have any type of waterproof barrier layer like a PUL pocket or All-in-one would. The cover is added on top of the fitted to provide this waterproof layer..without it your little one will get pee on everything, unless it's a very absorbent fitted. Some mamas let their kiddos go coverless in the house with a fitted made from really absorbent materials like hemp or bamboo..but all my fitteds are organic cotton so I def. need a cover for those Hope this helps you. Good luck with the wool. I think the lanolinizing will do the trick.
