How to get back on schedule???

DS has been staying up later and later because he has been sleeping later and napping later. (I have been ill and have not been able to enforce any sort of schedule).

Today I tried keeping him up through nap time in an effort to put him down early as he slept until 10 AM. He fell asleep on my lap at 5:30. At 7:30 I tried to transition him to his bed, at which point (after getting him into his overnight diaper and sleeper) he decided he was "all done" and hungry (makes sense as he slept through dinner time). Now once again it is 10:00 and he is wide awake.

Any recommendations? I need help! And CIO is NOT an option for us. (oh yeah, he is 2). I"m at a loss! TIA!!!

Re: How to get back on schedule???

start by gettting him up in the morning at the time you want him to start the day. then follow his lead for naps for the day, that first day he may want to nap earlier than he used to, but i imagine the next day or 2 he will get back to his schedule. make sure you get him to bed for the night at a reasonable time. im sure you know overtired babies don't sleep well. good luck, and i hope you get back to feeling better soon!

Re: How to get back on schedule???

Thanks so much. I guess it is going to be hard to do. I got him to bed at normal time last night and he got up at 4!! Once again we're off. Maybe tonight he'll be tired enough to sleep through, though! The more we're up at night, the longer it is taking me to et over this darn cold!!!
