if i can get a 3 yr old and 20m old to sit still...what's one kid?? when i went for my big u/s my son was 3 and my 1dd was 20m yes they were busy..but they also were told to SIT and they did.. sometimes it's good for kids to learn how to act in public...

FWIW: other than the big u/s my DH went to NONE of my appts...he even didn't come for my 1DD birth until that night...even though he's self employed and could have left at anytime..he left me in labor with his MOM from 9am till 5:30pm... I never have anyone to help watch my kids, if I go somewhere they all 3 go with me....IMHO he should learn to sit and be quiet when he's told to...and like the other mamas said.he might enjoy seeing his bro or sis...

If your dh is coming along, why can't he help keep your son occupied? He can hold him or something.

Re: You know what's sad?

I'm sorry! I feel this way a lot. I'm always there for everyone else, but in my time of need a few weeks ago my sister bailed on me & my SIL wasn't available to me even though she didn't have her boys that week. I just needed a quick trip to the grocery store & it was the first time I was ever without a car.

I'm sorry. Is there anyway you can bring your son?

Re: You know what's sad?

Are you finding out the sex of the babies? I know 1 1/2 hours seems far but maybe your parents could come to your house to watch your little guy in exchange for being the first to know what the new babies are! They could stay for dinner or you could all go out to celebrate. Have you asked them? They may just be waiting on a call. Also, if you go to church maybe there is someone there that you trust that could watch your ds for a little while for you. I know it is hard to ask for help outside your circle of friends but the worst that could happen (if they are trustworthy) is that they say they can't. Good luck mama!

Re: You know what's sad?

I took my ds with me (alone) to my 8 week ultrasound. He is the same age as your ds, and he did great. It really didn't take that long (neither did our "big" one with ds). He sat just fine the whole time - I brought him a non-messy snack, a toy he hadn't seen in a while, and a pen and paper.

The worst that could happen is that your dh ends up in the hallway with him the whole time and misses the ultrasound, but that's no worse than if you left him home with your ds, and I'd bet that there is a good chance that he won't miss it.

Re: You know what's sad?

So sorry!!

I'm another one who brought DS1 with me to the 20 week u/s. (DH was there, too.) DS was 2years 4 months at the time and a wild man. We were not looking forward to it, but had no choice. We brought tons of little things for him to do and some snacks. We didn't intend for them to actually work as again, he was very active. He did surprisingly well and even fell asleep! I was so thrilled. I wasn't expecting that both of us would be able to focus like we did. Hope it works out for you!!!!!!!!
