Hi!
I just wanted to stop by and offer some additional support. They may have explained the reason why they do the really indepth level 2 ultrasound so if this is old news then I apologize.

There are a lot of what they call soft markers for downs including the heart defects, something called an etrogenic (sp) bowel, length of the femur relative to the rest of the bones and finally the presence or absence of the nasal bone. I'm guessing based on your posts that didn't find any of these things which is awesome.

I wanted to give you some additional info on the PE thing too there is an awesome forum on the net at www.preeclampsia.org that will help support you through this is you wind up needing it.

Anyway just wanted to tell you that I've been in your exact shoes (with medical preexistings bad test results etc) and it is scary.

1. Congrats on your son. 2. I understand what you are going through with all the decision you are having to make. I was in your shoes 8 years ago when I was pg with my second son. I had the abnormal AFP test and then did the level 2 u/s. They found everything to be normal and refused to do a amnio on me. Well my son was born with Down Syndrome. I wish that they gave me the option to have it done so me and my ex hubby could of been a little more prepared when he was born.
