New Here! At the beginning of the adoption road

Our mountain of paperwork is done, fingerprints are done....and they are on their way to the adoption recruiter. This is something DH and I have talked about for ages, but now that the process has officially begun I am feeling quite nervous and anxious. We are looking to adopt a waiting child, hopfullly 6and under. We still have 2 classes and a homestudy to get through and I am sure it will be quite the roller coaster.

Just wanted to stop by here, I know alot of you are where I am, or have been down this road already. I am sure I will have alot more posts to come.

Welcome! It seems like a crazy process doesn't it - anyone can give birth, but they make it so hard to foster or adopt. But its all worth it in the end, and I certainly learned alot during our process about parenting, about the system, and about myself. Good luck with your homestudy!

Welcome! Your feelings sound completely normal. I hope the rest of the process goes quickly for you. Are you adopting domestically or internationally?

We are adopting domestically.

We got our approval letter last night, and forms to all go get physicals and starting to complete our 27 hrs training...We can take the classes in November which count for 20 hrs...and then we have to do 7 hrs outside of that...I went to fosterparentcollege.com last night and saw a few courses that I think we will sign up for in the next few days.
