I'm getting ready for baby... and was given a Medela Pump

by a friend who only used it 4 times.

I'm wondering if any of you use the sterilizer bags, and how well you think they work. It seems like a great idea. I was thrilled to see that Target carries the Medela products!

I use the sterilizer bags, and I think they work fine. I usually use the microwave sterilizer though, because I am sterilizing so much after pumping at work, and then having bottles and nipples to do every day.

You should check at the hospital (if you are birthing there) and see if they can give you a Medela hand pump. Mine did, and it had all new tubing & everything so you don't have to get new.

I used those bags since I was pumping twice a day at work. It really was convenient.

I've used them and I think they work really well, and each bag lasts through about 20 uses, I believe.

I just bought some to sterilize my nipple shields and other parts since I have thrush. I've heard from other people that they work great. I haven't tried them yet.

I love them. They are easier (and less obvious to the 50+ year old men that come into the kitchen while I'm cleaning pump parts) than washing.

In fact, one of them asked me what I was eating when I had one in the microwave. I said, "it's not food." He asked, "what is it?" and I said, "do you really want to know?" He laughed and said, "I'm guessing it's baby stuff." RIIIIIIGHT.

I too love them. But not only for pump parts. I use them for pacis too. Nipples (before we gave up on the bottle) and anything else we thought could get a good quick clean.
