Great book

If you haven't read One Small Boat by Kathy Harrison, please do. I checked it out from the library and read it all last night.

Harrison was a foster parent for 13 (I think that was the number) years, and she tells a lot of stories about her experiences.

I have heard her previous book was good too and plan to check it out as soon as the library gets it on interlibrary loan from another library.

Anyway, I found it incredibly encouraging.

Re: Great book

Another great one: Kathy Harrison's first book, Another Place at the Table. I read these two out of order, but I recommend reading APatT first and then One Small Boat. Both are excellent and come highly recommended for anyone considering foster parenting. Harrison is very real about the difficult situations she has encountered as well as her own mistakes when dealing with such situations.

I read APatT before we started fostering and I loved it for it's realness and here honesty in the fact that she didn't handle every perfectly. I'll have to check out the One Small Boat one next time I'm at the library. Thanks for the reminder.

Yeah, I agree! I read APatT during our adoption process and it was so relieving to know that even "professionals" made mistakes. I'll have to check out One Small Boat soon.
