Question Need some freezer meal ideas/recipes

I'm due Sept 25 and would like to keep a bunch of meals in the freezer. The only things I can think of are chili and lasagna. And maybe some ziplock bags of crockpot cookable meals?

I freeze spaghetti sauce all the time wo when DH is out of town all I have to do is cook the noodles and dinner is ready. I also do casseroles and other types of pasta and or sauces

I think the crock pot cookable meals are a great idea. You see all these dinner prep places know and that is all they do place all premeasured ingredients into a ziploc bag for you to cook later.

Re: Need some freezer meal ideas/recipes

Shepherds pie keeps great and really any kind of casserole does, too. Homemade sloppy joes are really yummy and freeze great. Pasta type meals/casseroles also freeze well as long as you keep your pasta a bit al dente. My favorite recipe websites are allrecipes.com and recipezaar.com - if you look up OMAC (once a month cooking) all of those recipes are made to be frozen.

Oh - meatloaf freezes well too!

Re: Need some freezer meal ideas/recipes

this is my fav freezable dish bc you make two and freeze both or eat one tonight! and its yummy and SUPER quick to make
Chicken Pot Pie

2 8x8x2 pans (disposable works great)
Aluminum Foil
1 Package Refrigerated Pie Crusts
6 cups cooked cubed chicken (canned works fine)
3 cans (10 oz each) condensed cream of chicken soup
2 packages (16 oz. each) frozen mixed vegetables, thawed
1 teaspoons poultry seasoning

To cook now:

Preheat Oven to 425 degrees. In large bowl combine chicken, soup, vegetables, and seasoning.
Mix Well. Divide mixture between the two pans.
Soften pie crusts following package directions.
Using a cookie cutter, cut out shapes in pie crust or cut slits in top to vent steam.
Place one pie crust on top of each filling, folding edges under to fit pan.
Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until crust is golden brown

To Freeze:
Same as above except cover dish with foil.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Remove foil and bake 1 hour and 15 minutes
Or until filling it hot.

Think about some of the things that you can buy premade and frozen in the grocery store. Anything that you can buy prefrozen, you can make yourself and freeze.

Re: Need some freezer meal ideas/recipes

I forgot meatloaf! Also freezes really well.

cooking is not my favorite chore. One day I set up 4 crock pots (i borrowed some from neighbors) and cooked 4 different dinners inside them at the same time. In the oven I cooked 2 meatloafs. I doubled all the recipies that were in the crock pots also. I preped everything the night before and put it in in the morning. During naptime they finished and I put the dinners into separate freezer bags. 8 meals in one day...done by 3 and I hardly did any work! Just an idea!

oh...the crock pots had
1. minestrone soup (this is under the easy soup thread going right now)
2. my dad's pot roast recipie
3. peachy pork picante (PM me if you want...it's really yummy)
4. sweet and tangy chicken (easy and yummy)

We cannot have dairy here so these are all dairy free.
Please feel free to PM if you are interested and I will post the recipies
