I also slept lower in the bed and had the baby up higher so the blanket can come over to my neck and face and be just at the armpits of the baby.
i understand about waking up to a fully covered baby, it has happend to me before and freaked me out but all has been ok

We co-slept when ds was little and always gad him up between our heads and did not pull the comforter up that high

Re: Co-Sleeping in the winter

It has already been cold enough here to need the heat on. I like to keep my 2-month-old, non-swaddled ds at my booby-level, so we tucked our comforter so that it only come up to our ribcages - so it does not come above ds's chest level. DH and I wear long-sleeves to bed - something warm but not too baggy. I use lilypadz at night so I don't need to wear a bra, just pull up my shirt from the bottom to nurse.

We use the covers. I just scoot Emma up a little higher in the bed, so the blankets never really go above her waist.
But, she usually manages to wriggle up and lay against my chest at night anyways. She likes the warmth.

Yeah, we use sleepsacks sometimes. However, if DD snuggles close to me at night she tends to get over heated.

I use a comforter. Bella usually pulls it off herself anyway. When it gets really cold, she wears a sleeper, otherwise just a tee and a soaker or longies.

Re: Co-Sleeping in the winter

We all dress warm and use lightweight blankets- one for each of us. I love flannel sheets. Our house now is fairly warm if I turn up the heat, but the apt we lived in with ds#1 was COLD. I wore a T-neck and sweatshirt with sweat pants and socks most nights.
