This totally made me cry.....a poem my son brought home from school.
My boys started pre-K this week and if that wasn't hard enough, here is the poem that my youngest brought home yesterday. At the bottom of the page was a little picture that they took of him at school.
The First Day of School I used to be little, but not any more. Today I got up and walked out the door. It's great to be big, but I was scared as can be. My tummy was in knots. Do you want to know why? I thought that maybe, just maybe I'd cry. But wait-you said I'd play lots of new games; And meet lots of friends-I learned most of their names. The first day of school, oh there was so much to do! There were songs and books and big playground, too. I can't wait to go back, it's the thing for me! Next Monday I'll get up and walk out the door. I used to be little, BUT NOT ANYMORE! The boys are so excited about school, but I get teary eyed every time the get on the bus. They just aren't babies anymore!!!!

Awwwwwww
I feel that way and we homeschool. The other day I was just thinking how many years until my oldest would be an adult and it seems almost overwhelming. I remember as a kid time went by sooo slow, now I can't seem to get it to slow down at all. It goes by wayyyy too fast.

Re: This totally made me cry.....a poem my son brought home from school.
Loved the poem. The first day of school I always help out in the kindergarten class rooms. We usually have a crier of 2. In one class we DIDN'T have any children crying, but we had a mother who was out of control. I mean sobs. I had to "encourage" her out of the classroom. She kept wanting to say goodbye and give kisses over and over. It really was beginning to upset the entire classroom. Her husband and I managed to get her to the cafeteria where they were serving coffee, cookies and sympathy. When school was out I went over to "check' on the mom. I gave her a sticker for her bravery. She gave me a hug! I've been doing this for almost 20 years and every year and I still get teary eyed doing it.

That's the sweetest thing I've ever read!!! ![]() ...I think AF is about to come and visit me, I don't think it's normal to cry for four minutes over a kindergarten poem.

Oh!!!
![]() My ds just started 2nd grade this year and it's like preschool/kindergarten for us because we used to homeschool. Apparently he's having a tough time adjusting. I got an email from his teacher saying that he keeps saying that he feels like he's gonna throw up but never does. So at recess yesterday she asked what's up and he says he misses me.

My little ones are still a couple of years away from school, but I get teary just thinking about it! My older one has "graduated" from the nursery at church into the preschool class, and my youngest has "graduated" from the infant nursery into the toddlers (ok , they kicked him out since he's walking LOL). They're growing up so darn fast!!
