my DD hates baths UPDATE

She cries and screams everytime she takes a bath. This makes it so I only give her a bath every 1-2 weeks . I just dont know what to do to get her to enjoy it. Tonight for her bath she stood in the sink. She would not sit down. I was thinking of getting one of these

to help her get used to the water. Do you think its worth it?

Does she ever take a tub bath with you? When my DD didn't like her first sink bath, I started bathing with her. When she gets upset I let her nurse for a little bit and it calms her down. Also, I have swaddled her and then washed her hair over the sink.
Let us know if you decide to try the wrap. I'm curious how it will work.

I second nursing her in the bath. I've done that with Taci and it works like a charm. Half the time I just let her nurse and wash her "on the boob"

I really think it is normal progression, unfortunately. My dd went through the same thing, we didn't really do anything but giver her one less often, make it quick and fun, and eventually she got through it. I know a lot of people who have had this same problem. I do agree that nursing her would be a good idea!

Re: my DD hates baths

our boys went through hating baths too. they were getting one at night before bed, and it was a scream-fest the whole time, from bath to sleep. so, i started giving baths during the day, but would only give them like one a week. they liked it MUCH more during the day- to the point where they actually enjoyed it, and splashed a bit! so, after a couple of months of happy daytime baths, we switched back to before bed baths, and they LOVE it! give it some time, she will come around. before you know it you'll be mopping up water off the floor from all the splashing!!

Noah is the same age as Lily and we shower with him He loves it! We did the same for Jack and Em until they were around a year old. Baths are too hard on my back when they're so little and you have to use all your strencgth holding them up and all.

Give the shower a try! I bet she'd really like it

Re: my DD hates baths

I'm in the the same boat, and my little guy is the same age (born 3.18.06) I've only been bathing him maybe once a week or so, because he has a FIT everytime I try to put him in the tub/sink/shower. Will have to try nursing him in the tub......

Re: my DD hates baths

I have started showering with my dd. It works out better than giving her a bath. She just sits in the tub part and plays with a rubber ducky while i shower and i wash up and then wash her up.
