Friction between breast and breast sheild?
I have to exclusively pump, I have been pumping for 7 months now and never had a problem with friction being a problem untill the lactation consoltant told me to get the bigger breast shields because the smaller ones were causing my nipples to crack and bleed. Now instead of them cracking and bleeding I have friction burns and still want to scream everytime I pump because it hurts so bad. The LC and my OB both told me to use lanonlin and that has only made it worse.
Any ideas on how to prevent the friction? Anything will be helpful, I don't care how bad it hurts I wont pull my LO on formula. Thanks in Advance

Re: Friction between breast and breast sheild?
Wow - that sounds very painful! Are the burns on the nipples or elsewhere on your breast? If your nipples have healed, I might suggest you go back to the smaller shields that didn't cause the burns, and protect your nipples with lanolin before pumping. If your nipples are where you have the friction burns, there are some cooling gel pads made by Playtex, I think. They might help with the discomfort.
