Need Advice on DD and Girly Parts

The problem is she won't leave them alone when changing her, bathing her and any other time she is naked. She is 13 months. Not sure what to do to get her to stop....

She is so young she really doesn't understand much.. ds used to grab down there every time too.. I just ignored it for the most part..sometimes I used a little distraction with toys that I kept on the changing table only (and bath tub toys only etc), so he would look forward to playing with them during his changing or bath. I think the less attention to bring to it, the better.. you don't want them to think their private parts are 'bad'.. but you don't want to encourage it either.. kwim?

ITA. Both my girls went through it and both got past it. We just ignored it.

I also just ignore it. My dd is almost 2 and she does this anytime she doesn't have a diaper on. I don't want her to think it's bad. It's hers and she can do what she wants with it.

I agree. I would say just ignore it for now and provide a distraction. My youngest does it occasionally when I am changing her, and she is almost 14 months. My oldest still touches it occasionally, but I try to explain that we usually try not to touch down there unless we have to. She seems to get the idea.

My DD is 13 months, and when being changed she loves to feel around down there. I have NO problem with it. None. It's NOT bad, it isn't 'wrong,' and it hurts no one and nothing.

Thanks! I don't really have a problem with her being curious. Its just the need to get her hands down and in there when shes poopy then its poop all over. I'm also glad to know this is a normal stage.

My son does this too, and has grabbed many a handful of poo. I try to give him something to occupy his little hands if I know it's a poopy diaper. I don't mind it except for the mess. I just tell him that it's his and he can do with it what he wants, but let's get the poo cleaned off first. Sidenote, but boy do I shudder, watching how he stretches that thing out. It sure looks like it would hurt!

Re: Need Advice on DD and Girly Parts

Oh man, this just happened last night with DD!! She's 10 months and for the past, oh...2 weeks maybe, she's been grabbing her girly bits every time I change her. But last night she had a poopy diaper and before I could catch that fast little hand, she had poop all over herself. YUCK! I yelled for DH to hold her hands back while I finished changing her and cleaning off her hand. LOL OY!!
