I need info on pg and nursing

My OB's nurse practitioner told me to stop nursing today bc I am 7 weeks pg.

I DO NOT want to do that and need some back up! I know other people have done it- there must be something to back me up here!

I think it really depends on how much your baby is nursing. How old is your baby now and how much are you nursing? There are plenty of mamas who have successfully nursed while pregnant, so don't just take what she said at face value.

Good luck!

oh please...she's a nut.
if you haven't had miscarriages then i'm sure you are fine.
i've nursed through ALL 6 of my pregnancies...one being a miscarriage.
not one dr., nurse or midwife has told me i "can't" breastfeed.
they all usually wean when i'm about 5 or 6 months pregnant.

here are some links i just found...i didn't read them all the way through though...

You've gotten some good information so far but I wanted to add my, of course you can breastfeed while pg. So long as you eat well there is no reason, unless your medical history indicates one, why your body can't support a nursling and grow a baby.

Re: I need info on pg and nursing

I didn't have any problems with my pregnancy while I was breastfeeding my DS. He nursed 4-5 times a day and was about 16 months old. And I had full support from my midwives to nurse - they knew right from the begining that I was still breastfeeding and they thought it was wonderful that I wanted to continue. My pediatrician gave me the thumbs up too.

Here's another great link for info on breastfeeding while pregnant:

GL! And Congratulations!

This Book: Adventures in Tandem Nursing is AMAZING! I bought it recently and have learned so much about being pregnant and nursing...I highly reccomend it...it's also usually in the LLL library if you go to those meetings.

That's nuts. I'm 9 weeks and still nursing my nearly 16 m/o. He nurses 2-3 times a day also.
Now, at this time, there's not much milk being produced so it seems like DS is nursing mostly for comfort at this point.
I don't see any reason why you should have to wean your baby before you're ready or even nurse 2 if that's your cup of tea.
GL and congrats!!

That's so ridiculous! Your body will "make" you stop when it is ready, if it will slow you down at all. My DD weaned when I was something like 3 months pg because my supply dwindled so much that she lacked interest anymore. You do what you want, mama! My midwives were excited that I was still nursing at 12 weeks! It's a very natural and healthy thing for you to do!
