How old was your LO when they learned to walk?

My DS was 12 months old, but my twin DDs are working on 13 months & still not walking, one has taken just a few steps but the other is uninterested. Just trying to figure out if prematurity has anything to do w it or if they should be walking by now? They were 6 wks early.

NOTE: YOU CAN CHOOSE MULTIPLE ANSWERS SINCE MANY OF US HAVE MULTIPLE KIDS & THEY PROBABLY DIDN'T LEARN TO WALK AT THE SAME AGE

DS took a few steps last month but still isn't really going yet. But I thought it counts.

Re: How old was your LO when they learned to walk?

My DD started taking steps at about 11.5 months, but wasn't walking really well until about 12.5 months. I have friends with kids who walked as early as 9 months, and as late as 16 months.

My dd was 10 months old. However, I know kids who were 14 months. I am betting that prematurity DOES have something to do with it. In "real" age, they're 6 weeks behind everyone else and we all know that 6 weeks can make a huge difference. I'm no expert, though. I just think that makes sense.

Re: How old was your LO when they learned to walk?

On 9/20/2008 She started walking (at 10 mnths)!! That was our anniversary present (9/21-we have been married 6 years now).

I was very shocked, my mom told me all of us were 13 months, and my dh mom told me it was close to 2 years. So I was thinking we had at least until 12 months.

She was walking while holding onto things when she was 6 months old and never showed an interest in letting go. Then she just let go last Saturday and kept walking, now she does it all the time, she'll just stand up and go..

DS2 took his first steps around 13months but then there was (is) no stopping him.
DS1 I can't remember off hand but I want to say around 11-12 mos.

i have a friend whose daughter didn't walk until she was 19 months and she was not preemie. I think most kids learn to walk between 12-15 months (that's the number tuck in my head for some reason)

My DD was early and walking by 10 months. Then she startd running and never stoped!

That is what I keep thinking too, they stay pretty on track w milestones, etc w kids approx 1 month younger. So technically, they are 11 months old & 1 is just taking a few steps. I am okay w that. But the docs say they should be fully caught up to their actual age & should be a bit more advanced.
DS was not saying many words at his 12mo check up & the docs freaked me out! They had me terrified that something was wrong & made us come in for extra checks, etc. Now he is 3 yo & his vocabulary is that of a 5 yr old. I think ea kid develops at their own pace & in their own time, but the docs get me worried & second guessing my gut feeling that everything is okay
