Re: How long do you plan to BF?

DS weaned at 22ish months. He was really heading that way & I gave him a nudge b/c I needed to have surgery before I could TTC. My DD is 8mo and mostly just breastfed. She does get some table food while we are eating but mostly for entertainment during dinner than to really feed her. I voted 2-3 years b/c I will let her lead the way but don't know if I will go past 3. I want another and am not sure I can handle nursing while preggo. Maybe TMI but my n!pples hurt soooo bad while pregnant that I don't think I can handle it. Kudos to the mamas that do.

Re: How long do you plan to BF?

I wanted to make it to at least a year. She will be a year in October. She has no interest in weaning at all but since I work during the day she has had breastmilk in a bottle. I will wean that feeding to organic milk so I don't have to pump at work but that is the only feeding we are weaning and that won't be the case on the weekends or holidays. I plan to allow her to self wean unless it becomes a problem later.

I picked 2-3. DS self-weaned right before his 2nd bday. So not sure if DD will do the same. But I don't think we will do it after her 3rd birthday, but we will see.

I didn't vote because the goal is child led weaning, but I don't know how long she will go.

Re: How long do you plan to BF?

I plan on nursing DS for at least 1 year (he's 9 months now). After that I will gently wean him by 18 mos. He's very enthusiastic about eating solids, so I don't forsee a problem with weaning or nutrition.

Re: How long do you plan to BF?

There wasn't really a correct answer on this poll for me so I answered the 6 weeks. I tried to BF DD and she refused to latch on so I pumped for about 2 1/2 months and then my milk supply pretty much disappeared so we switched her to formula. With my DS I started BF and as soon as my milk came in he could not tolerate it. I tried changing my diet but he couldn't keep anything down except for soy formula so I just switched to formula. I will try to BF my next baby as well, but if it doesn't work out I'm not going to beat myself up like I did the last 2 time because I really let it get to me and got really depressed about it.

Re: How long do you plan to BF?

I am tandem nursing right now. My 3.5 year old is still getting 100% of his nutrition from breastmilk... I will continue to provide for him until he does not need it anymore.. and his sisiter is 6 months, nursing and will do so until she self weans... nursing strikes do not count as "weaning"
