Tshirt PFs, in general, are much trimmer than the regular cotton ones, so there's a good chance just making it this way will be trim enough. If not, you could make one with two less layers in the middle, winding up with a finished PF of 4x6x4. Jersey is surprisingly absorbent.

As for microfiber, my guess is no. I haven't tried it with the Tshirt PFs, but I have tried it in making a cotton woven PF, and it totally kills the stretchiness of the PF and it doesn't make your folds fit like they should. So that one is a burp rag!

Thanks for the info I guess I just didn't think of t-shirts as absorbant, but I'll try it! Also didn't think about the microfiber affecting the stretch.....

This pattern is awesome! I'm finding that you don't want to use a T-shirt that loses shape though, because that means it is too stretchy and won't work for a diaper. I've been using flannel for that outside strip in the middle.

For the microfiber, you could always make the prefold a stuffable prefold, and put the microfiber in the pocket.

Do you have to put the embellishment section? I have a bunch of t-shirts but no other fabrics and would like to make these.
