You know you may be raising "crunchy' kids when...

...your oldest visits relatives homes and goes around shutting lights off telling them that it saves energy.

... your kids didn't know, until they visited a friends house, that you could throw apple cores away and didn't need to put them in the bucket on the screen porch.

... your youngest (who has has the full benefit of the crunchy lifestyle) cried and refused to touch the plastic baby dolls at the hospital. We didn't have her baby doll with us so we finally went and found a fabric one in the gift shop for her -- she fell in love instantly. This was the one that made me realize maybe we have crunchy kids, she wanted to love the hard plastic baby so much (she missed her baby) but she didn't like touching it and was confused and grossed out by the feel of it.

... your oldest informed her preschool teachers that the baby dolls at school needed real diapers (they had sposies on them) like her sister

Re: You know you may be raising "crunchy' kids when...

gracie wore a disposable to bed because our wool was wet and our one pul cover is having leaking issues and sara grabbed her and hugged her and was wrestling her in true sibling form and then all of a sudden backed away and wrinkled her nose and said, "mama, gracie stinks. she stinks like L________. put on her pretty diapers." L is a friend's baby who is disposable diapered. And no, she wasn't dirty or wet, she just smelled like a perfumed disposable diaper.

or how about when you need to explain WHAT formula is because your kid is sitting in the baby aisle like this: at age 3 1/2.

Whenever we visit my moms, DD says, you do WHAT w/ your extra food?

In Children's Church, DD talks about her brothers newest diapers instead of TV shows. She also asks about Fluffy Mail at the PO.

these are great

i started watching a 2 month old and my dd saw his empty bottles..and she says? are these for boobie milk? i say yes.. and she asks if i am going to put my boobie milk in it for evan (ds) i say no evan gets his "num nums" from mommy's boobie..those are for baby baxter, his mommy is going to put her boobie milk in them!

lol i just loved that she hasn't a clue that anyone bottle fed or not has anything but "boobie milk"!!

Those are tooooo cute!! My kiddos turn off lights too... they actually fuss at DH when he leaves them on. They refer to sposies as *fake diapers*. They go around teaching others the three R's.

Re: You know you may be raising "crunchy' kids when...

when you take off your bra and cheerios fall out and your 3 year old looks up and goes, "mama you forgot one on that boobie right there." AND IT'S PERFECTLY NORMAL FOR HER! She doesn't blink an eye!

and no, I don't normally strip naked in front of my kids often(though that may make us more crunchy????) but I was getting into the shower and she happens to be 3 and not trustworthy on her own so she reads me her books while I shower!

My 4.5 yo dd gets upset when we throw something away that she thinks can be recycled. She especially gets concerned when we go to hotels, she always wants us to confirm that they will separate out the recycleables from the trash. She's used to co-mingles.
