Ditto!

The first time I left DS with SMIL was when he was a few weeks old and I had to do laundry. He didn't have his shots yet and I didn't want to take him to a crowded loud laundrymat. I was so distraught without him that I never left him again! Now the only person I leave him with is DH and that's when I have a doctors appt cuz Jayden flips out when he sees strangers touch me.

6 months for DD1 when I had to go back to work, but only during the day. Never overnight until she was nearly 5 and DD2 was born. DD2 has never been away from me for more than a few hours while I had to have a mammogram and my neighbor took both girls.

The first time I left DS w/someone other than DH was last month. He was 13ish months and was with my DF and DSM for about an hour and a half while DH and I had blood work done. Tomorrow I have to leave him all day with DSM so I can take DH for surgery an hour away. I hope he does alright

Re: How old was your LO.....

Usually around 4mo I pump some extra milk and let my husband bring baby and kids to SIL's for the day so I can clean the house. But I know baby will be held by both dada and aunt the entire time so I'm okay with it. Otherwise an hour or two with grandma.
I don't really leave them without a parent for any length of time until preschool age, and even that's only 3 hours.
Generally around 2-3 years old I'm okay with an overnight with me gone if they're at home in familiar surroundings with someone they know well.

Do what you and most importantly your baby are comfortable with.

Re: How old was your LO.....

I left my ds with my mother when he was 6 weeks old...and she put my EBM in the microwave!!! I have also left ds with my MIL, but I love her dearly, and probably trust her more than my own mother (after the microwave incident!) But, my dh and I like to go out on dates at least once a month. It is usually for just a couple of hours for us to go to a nice dinner or something though.

Re: How old was your LO.....

Hm, My baby is 7 months and I haven't been away from him longer than maybe 30 mins. I can't go longer than that without hyperventilating...So someone else babysit is totally out for me. I would never let someone else do that unless it was a total emergency. My son won't take a bottle from anyone (even hubby) besides me anyway...so that would be pure hell for anyone that I let babysit. :/

Re: How old was your LO.....

Well with my mom I think I left my #4 with her for my six week check up. But anyone else, ( including my MIL ) My kids were all over a year old. I don't like leaving my kids. I see it as they are mine.

Re: How old was your LO.....

I felt comfortably with leaving DD while i ran to town, an hour at most. New Years was the first time she was with my mother for about 4 hours, i was not happy about and started to have a panic attack in the car b/c my boobs were too full and i could not get my boob out to pump, dh had to pull over and just about milk me, sorry if thats to much info but it's kinda funny now. she'll be 13.5 months when i have my surgury and she'll have to stay with my mother over night and trust my iam not happy about it but i have to get my nose fixed before i have anyother baby, and i am needing another baby soon.
No Flames please but if there any dogs not to mention a PB i would/could never leave DD there. good luck and it's nice to get a little break and as they get older it's nice to have someone that there used to take them for awhile. mommy time doesnot make you a bab mother, but sometimes a better one.
