just wondering what mamas do for teething

my 6 month old wont have anything to do with plastic teethers. She has wood rings on a few dolls and wont chew on them yet. I give her a carrot, or cuke, or teething cookie she is fine but there are times I dont want her covered in food.
She likes the mallots to her xylophone but I cant leave her alone with them for a second. Any ideas?

One step ahead has a teether that looks like a pacifier that she might be in to. I wish I had known about it for Tharen, he would have loved it. He was never a grumpy fussy teether, but when his 2yr molars started coming in he ate all of his pacis. That is when we weaned him from the paci cause it was too dangerous for him to have it.

This is it, it looks really cool.

The other thing you can do is wet a wash cloth, freeze it, and then give it to her. Lots of babies love chewing on cold terry cloth. Keptin makes a lovely little terry cloth dollie that Tharen loved to chew on. I believe you can buy them at places like magic cabin and oompa. And those can also be wet with cold water or frozen for added teething relief.

We have a little contraption that has a round handle and a little mesh bag you can put fruit in. We freeze peaches, grapes, apples, pears and put pieces in the bag and she chews it to death. you can find them in wal mart or target in the feeding section

we give teething tablets and motrin at nite .. for chew toys we have a teething paci from soothie that he loves . he is working on the top 2 .. we try not to give meds .. and give cool teethers or other things first . also you can freeze a washcloth or put an ice cube in a washcloth. the pp mentioned the meshfeeders those are awesome . our ds did not like frozen but loves cold nanas and stuff. teething is hard hope this all helps

DD LOVED this--kind of messy but I'm sure it feels great on the gums! We also found a silicone toothbrush that had a guard around the handle that she could hold and gnaw to her heart's content. I think it was Sassy brand, and it worked great because it would massage her gums and it was super soft.

I used teething tablets from the homepathic dr. and an amber teething necklace (to be worn not chewed on)

Re: just wondering what mamas do for teething

I love the teething tablets. They calmed both of my babes down when they were in pain. DS is cutting his 2-yr molars right now, and they're the only thing that soothes him.

I also do love that mesh feeder. Frozen fruit or veggies are perfect in there! Yummy, nutritious, soothing... and it keeps them quite busy for a while I'd recommend the ones that have replacable bags, as they can get pretty gross. Don't get the ones at Target; you can't replace the mesh on those. I got mine at Babies R Us.

Teething tablets and Motrin at night.

She doesn't like teething "devices," but sometimes will chomp on a pacifier, if we give her one.

She is 14.5 months and is cutting tooth #5 and #6 right now (they broke through about a week ago).
