Re: Chickenpox, or something else? *pic*

Hmmm Well, it's really not the best picture.

They look different than bugbites to me. He's always wearing a shirt hwen he's outside, and at night he's always got a shirt on too. I'd think if it were bugbites, wouldn't they be on his arms or legs? Shortsleeves and all? (occasional shorts, but getting too cold now)

Since our bed is in the same room, wouldn't we be getting bites too? I don't have any, and neither does DF.

ETA: He's been sleeping in our bed for the past few nights, with the exception of last night.

Do you think if it hasn't spread by tomorrow morning it'd be fine to take him to the party? From what I read it goes in 2 day bouts, so shouldn't he have more spots in the morning if it IS CP?

Its looks like chicken pox to me....
I think its highly unlikely he has that many bug bites under his shirt unless he took it off and rolled around in some ants or something......

Doesn't really look like chickenpox to me either. Maybe he just broke out?
ETA: if it was chickenpox he'd be running a fever by now most likely!

If it hasn't spread I would say it isn't chicken pox. It might look like it and it might not. I forget what they said I had when we thought i had gotten chicken pox again as an adult..had a mild case as an adult.
Like pp said maybe bug bites.

Not Necessairly, I never ran one with CP as a kid. Heck i never ran it with strep or scarlett fever. I know I am odd.

I would ask the mama of the birthday child for the final opinion on if he can go. I remember when i had Chicken pox that it spread fast and even with niece and nephews. Meaning the spots would pop up and grow. They do pop up constantly for awhile so where you could have ones healing and have others that are new.

Re: Chickenpox, or something else? *pic*

We wound up going to the party anyway. Called and made sure it was ok, of course. Had fun, but he wanted nothing to do with the pony - strange! He loved it the other day!

He still doesn't have a fever, no new spots, and the ones he has look drier. They never got really nasty. It could be a weird eczema breakout maybe, but his patches look completely different. I really doubt it's bug bites of any sort, since they're not on his arms or legs, plus neither myself or Nate have bites.

The only other thing I can think of would MAYBE be heat related? I THINK I first noticed the spots Thursday night, after we got home from the fair. It was chilly, so he was double layered, and was in the stroller for a while near the end of the day. Perhaps sitting in the stroller his back got hot and he broke out? Grasping at straws probably.

If he's still spotty Monday, I'll probably call the dr to get an opinion either way.
