yep-we tried tide b/c we were at my dad's and it was all he had. i was nervous b/c of all the bad rap on tide. it worked sooooo well-i did have to rinse an extra time but the dipes have never been cleaner! we have used tide ever since

If your inserts are mircofiber, then don't use vinegar.... Vinegar can react w/ the minerals in well water (that may not have been there before, ground water is constantly changing in composition) and make for stinky microfiber inserts, and microfiber holds the stink too.. I had the same problem-o, strip them really well w/ calgon, possibly change detergents and leave out the vinegar!!

FWIW, additives of any kind made my problems worse. Dawn, vinegar and Bac-Out included. Only a generous amount of detergent -currently Tide HE - and plenty of rinsing have kept us out of the stinkies. I'm still waiting on samples of both Crunchy Clean and Simply Clean (I thought at least one of them would come today!!

) , so no help there, but if they're good I'll be posting. Oh, and we now use only pockets with mf inserts.

I have always been told the vinegar is a No No.
Try this:cold rinse w/ nothing~Hot wash cold rinse with Tide to the 1 line~hot wash, cold rinse with nothing~ cold rinse.

The only thing that worked for me was switching to Tide.

i found out that i needed some enzymes. i do a soak in 10 skimpy squirts of bacout, spin out the water, wash w/ calgon and a little detergent.

I know this probably isn't the most popular opinion, but I would get rid of everything microfiber. I used pockets from the time my DD was born until she was around a year old. I started getting stink problems, and I tried EVERYTHING. They would be ok for a short period of time, but the stinkies always came back. I finally got rid of all MF and started using a prefold trifolded in a PUL cover...awesome! If you use a cover with gussets, it seriously works just as well as a pocket diaper.

Now I use infant prefolds with a microfleece liner (to keep her skin dry) trifolded in a PUL cover (I like Bummis super brite, and Imse Vimse), and prefolds/fitteds with wool. I haven't had ANY stinky problems at all since I went to that system.
