Trust me though, when it spoils, you'll KNOW. I left some breastmilk to thaw in the fridge once and forgot it at my mom's house....she found it in the back about a week later...let's just say YUCK!

It is actually **12 hours at room temp! (I've been hosptialized alot, so this was important fot me to know )

I knew that I've heard longer than 4 hours, but I'm a paranoid OCD mama so I just keep it at the shortest length I've heard

yup, probably just fat. but don't shake it! swirl it around to mix it in. also, frozen bm can take on a funny (some have said 'soapy') taste, but it is still fine, as long as the baby thinks it takes good anyway.

Okay, so 12 hours at room temperature. How long in the fridge and how long after defrosted?? I know I've seen several timeframes listed. What have you heard/followed?

I follow 48 hours in the fridge fresh or defrosted...usually it's used up LONG before that for making baby food. I don't know what is the actual safe time period though.

OK Where did I see 12 hours? I think LLL is being conservative on their hours. I know I saw 12 hours somewhere too.

Oh, yea, it sounds like fat to me too. And my milk tasted soapy after months in the freezer too but my 23 month old still liked it.
