skin stretching pain?

Ok, so I feel like this is a very minor complaint compared to what some of you ladies are going through right now, but I have to know.

I'm only 25 weeks and really not all that big in my opinion (my body probably considers this big, but I know my belly could be so much bigger at 25 weeks). Despite that, the center line of my belly above my belly button (about up to my bra line) hurts like nothing else! It feels like the skin and muscles on my belly might split in two. I keep applying burts bees belly butter each night (or at least on the nights I remember ), but is it going to get worse or will the belly butter eventually help?

I just can't imagine what my belly is going to feel like in another 10 -14 weeks if it already feels like this!

Re: skin stretching pain?

ok, so I take it it will just get worse. Was hoping that there was something I could put on to make it not quite so painful, but oh well. Thanks ladies

Well, the oil will help some. It will take some of the "sting" out of the stretching. But, its pretty much inevitable, unless your mom never got stretch marks, or you just happen to be one of the lucky few that never get them. But, they do go away eventually. Its not so bad, and I consider it an honor to carry a child, so I take the bad with the good.
(I'm 41 weeks tomorrow.)

Yeah, I'm not too worried about stretch marks (none yet). I figure I'm going to get them or not and there's not much I can do. My mom got them on her rear of all places but no where else. It just feels like my stomach muscles are pulling apart on top sometimes in addition to the skin (of course it could just be the skin stretching and my thinking it feels worse than it is). Strangely, where I am my biggest (at and just below my belly button) doesn't hurt! Go figure...

Re: skin stretching pain?

Well, during your first pregnancy your stomach muscles do separate....so you may be feeling some pain from that. I'm trying to remember back to my pregnancy with Emily, but that was 3 years ago , so I don't have a clue. I do know that after she was born I could feel the gap/canyon running down what used to be a subtle "six pack". 9.25 months and 45 pounds later....not so much!

I'm with you Mama. I'm having it too. Sadly it never goes away, it just gets worse. It's always the worst for me at night after I've eaten a big meal. It feels like my tummy is going to burst from the inside out!
