Re: Please make me feel better(well baby visit related)

I wouldn't worry either. DD is all over the growth charts. They often mis-measure their heads. DD has had her head remeasured multiple times in one appointment because it is not an exact thing. A fraction of a cm can mean a whole different percentile!

hope you are feeling more centered now. Never ceases to astound me how visits to the doc can upset rather than help. We go in expecting to be filled and often times leave drained. Like being graded in school and only a very few get 100% When just getting there means we"ve passed with flying colors and are ready and eager for the next challenging learning curve. When compared to myself. I"m a genious and a heck of a mom. So are you.

Both my son and daughter are really low in percentile for their heads 10% They always measure their heads a few times act a little worried and write something in the chart. As long as their head is growing at a steady rate I don't think it is a problem. My daughter is three now and everything seems to be fine. Don't let them worry you.

Re: Please make me feel better(well baby visit related)

This is why I don't pay attention to the % for anything anymore. We took Kolten in for his WBV and he's 96% in height and only 30% in weight. We've never had issues with any of his other measurements and the dr. just assumed that his being tall and skinny was because of me (I'm 5'7" and 110 lbs.) and I've ALWAYS been tall and slender. Anyways, so he got sick in September and he saw another dr. cuz his pedi wasn't in. She was looking over his chart and said that his head circumfirence has gotten really big in a small amt. of time and if he was her patient, she'd send him in for a brain scan. Ok, so I go in because he's sick and come out worried about there being something wrong with his brain??

I'm confused. I thought the second flu shot *had* to be given no sooner than a month later.

Not that E will get it anyway, his ped cancelled his second one because they ran out.

dont worry about it, this is why i am avoiding the drs.

remember, those charts were made out of average data......someone had to be on the low end, and someone had to be on the high end. so your daughter isnt the only one!

Re: Please make me feel better(well baby visit related)

Yes, i meant that the second part of the flu shot will be given in a month(if available).
I should know better than to let the dr. get me all worked up. I am very observant(sp??) of my daughter. I would know if something weren't normal and i would get that gut feeling. I haven't gotten that so i don't know why the dr. visit got me upset. In reality even if something were wrong i would still love my child just as much if not more so worrying about it doesn't really do anything other than cause me stress. I just have to keep reminding myself to trust my mommy instincts and keep my chin up.
I just realized baby has a new tooth(1st molar) so her body has probably been focusing on that.
I do like the dr. really i do. She didn't even bat an eyelash when we said no to the mmr. She just gave her case in one sentence and accepted our not getting the mmr vaccine.
Thank you for all the replies. I feel so much better.

I am so glad the the doc said this is normal is bf babies!! & that they didn't try to force any food/formula your way... (not badmouthing formula, just saying some docs are uninformed about breastmilk growth). I would actually look at the entire visit as good!! All kids are different, she is doing great with her milestones... I wouldn't worry!!

I disagree.

This is why you do go to the doctor, to keep an eye on things. My dd is skinny too, but my doctor was more concerned about milestones. Just keep an eye on her and enjoy your baby. If YOU think something is wrong bring her back before her next check up, if you think it is all good; Don't worry. Good thing you have a doctor who is paying attention and knew that BF babies should be evalutaed a little differently!
