Re: Have your kids eaten non-food items?

Laurissa had an OBSESSION with dirt her first summer. She was 8-11 months old. EVERYTIME I took her outside she would eat the dirt. Of course I tried to stop her, distract her, put her in an exersaucer anything, but somehow she always managed to eat at least a couple handfuls. MY SIL went so far as to imply I was a bad mom because my kid was eating dirt. I just told her if she could make Laurissa stop I'd appreciate it, but I tried everything.......now she just eats any food I set in front of her.

Emma, I don't remember....seems like there was something, but I was preg. w/ Rissa when Emma was 5 months & I get major preggo brain....

Well, KB is in that "stage"- she is eating anything she can get her hands on. Fuzz seems to be her favorite. LOL We have to be very careful with her, she has given us a few scares. The other girls weren't nearly that bad.

Which reminds me, I need to vacuum today.

Re: Have your kids eaten non-food items?

My dd eats paper, fuzz expescally the fuzz off of her longies, dog food, and a penny . I don't even know how she got the penny, but she pooped it. I'm constantly shaving her longies because she will collect the fuzz all day long and have a huge stash of it in her mouth. The strangest thing is, she will hardly eat any food but loves non-food things.

You know, DS1 never had issues with anything going in his mouth...it was wonderful, but now here I am with DS2 and he sticks darn near EVERYTHING in there ! It's like a black hole...but he doesn't purposely seek out things to munch on!

Re: Have your kids eaten non-food items?

I had to chuckle at this one as I recently found a pic of my now 4.5 yo DD who, at 18 months was pictured covered in dirt - she used to go out in the yard and eat the stuff like it was candy. It was sooooo gross....the kids would come in "Rae is eating dirt again!" and she'd be outside just coated in it. The three younger ones all loved getting into the dog/cat food. We have to keep it locked up in the larger bathroom with the door shut, or the youngest will toddle in there, sit down and have a snack if we're not watching her.

Re: Have your kids eaten non-food items?

DD#1 wasn't too bad to eat things, but on her 1st birthday she ate the packet of silica gel that came in a gift. Called poison control because it said DO NOT EAT on the pack. They said it is completely safe, like eating sand. It just says do not eat because it resembles a salt or pepper packet and they don't want people to get confused...lol.

DD#2....That kid will eat anything and everything. She is a human vaccum. She has pooped glitter, latex paint, paper, wrapper, crayons....hmmm, I am sure there is more. She is finally getting to where when I grab her cheeks to make her do the fishy face so I can dig the snack of the day out of her mouth...she is starting to just spit it out on her own instead of screaming like I am murdering her.
