Re: What do you wish you knew then? CDing a newborn
I wish I would have known...
Just how much I loved going coverless That some babies like to piddle...or pee every thirty minutes...and hate to be damp at all so a million prefolds isn't a bad idea (we ended up with 36 and I have no regrets) That not all babies are born on time or the size you think they will be. If you want to cloth diaper be prepared with diapers in several sizes, and don't be upset if you can't use them. DD was preterm and wore her nb stash for twelve weeks, her small stash for two weeks and is now in mediums.

Re: What do you wish you knew then? CDing a newborn
I wish I had listened to the "Use PF's and covers" advice. They are seriously THE BEST system. Cheap, reliable and fast changes for cranky squirmy babies.
I've CD'd 2 newborn boys from birth and Pf's are the best way to go! |

Re: What do you wish you knew then? CDing a newborn
I wish I would have gotten more NB Mutts. They're so teeny tiny and cute. And they never messed w/ his cord. By the time I found out how great they are, he grew out of them.
DEFINITELY more tee's and less onsies. My saving grace the first few weeks were cheap (free) prefolds made from the Gerber PF's and had sewn in hemp. They were cheap and ratty and I LOVED them. I would reach for those before anything else. Loved my PRO wrap. Wish I would have had more than one.

Re: What do you wish you knew then? CDing a newborn
Chiming in again ... no matter what kind of diaper you use, you're gonna change the baby *at least* 15 times/day regardless of whether you sposie or cloth (I think we changed every hour for the first few weeks day AND night!). Why not just get some cute NB fluff?

I am loving this thread! I didn't start cloth with my DD til she was a month old and I am so excited to use cloth from the start with this baby.
