Re: What do you wish you knew then? CDing a newborn *update post #269*

Whew!!! Took me all day but I finally read/scanned through all 42 pages.. WOW tons of amazing info.
So far I'm into fitteds and covers (that's what I have) but I'm thinking of getting at least a dozen PFs, just in case... Also a few more covers. My son was 7 lbs, 6 oz and this one is looking to be smaller or same size, roughly. So what I have should work. I will be doing sposies first 2 weeks.
Thanks to everyone who contributed.

For us....I wish I would have realized how bulky Goodmamas were on a tiny newborn. We had planned on Q being able to use them right away and in reality there was just no way. I didn't realize how much the bulk would and still does bother me. I would have saved so much time and money had I just gone with prefolds and covers which is what we now. Hopefully I will have one more chance to get a newborn stash right.

Re: What do you wish you knew then? CDing a newborn *update post #269*

Thank you everyone for all the great information! I should have my first NB in a couple of weeks and really appreciate all the advice! I am doing DSQ prefolds with PUL wraps - though we may have to use sposies due to his cord at first - we'll have to see.

I'm really excited about the fleece sleep bag idea - though not quite sure how it will work mess wise - just opening the bag and changing a PF with a snappi sounds super easy at night. I will re-post in a few weeks to report back what my experiences were.

Thank you all for your advice!

Re: What do you wish you knew then? CDing a newborn *update post #269*

I am loving my nb mutts and my itty bitty pb&e with organic imse vimse preemie covers. the mutts were the only things that stayed away from the cord. we like our xs bg aio but they are not as soft and cozy as the fitteds. i like how i can hold the itty bitty with one hand while i snappi. the one time we use xs thirsties cover teh poo leaked all over so so far not too happy with those but they may just be too big still. i will get pics up as soon as i can! i posted a few from the hospital in the newborns in fluff thread in the due in dec 09 forum if anyone wants to see more action shots there are several there

I wish I knew how easy it is! We use flats and dappi's and LOVE it! I don't know why I thought sposies would be easier with our first two. It's the sposies that led to blow-outs for goodness sake. Not once have I had poo on DD2's clothes using cloth. She's 8 weeks old today.

So glad I started reading this thread! I have a 2mo old, but she was an early bird so she is only 8lbs. The onesie info explains a lot Now I know why I kept getting leaks. I will have to read through the whole thread!!
