It reminds me of something Sarah Palin would name her kid... sorry...I had to

Yeah, I just did a google search on "slang term spade" - it was quite elucidating. I'd seer clear, personally.

I too think of David Spade. I love, love, LOVE the name Slade though.

First impression was "wow- what are they thinking?? That's a horrible name."

Sorry, but just being honest.

Re: What do you think? - Baby boy name "Spade"

Wow.. some of you are pretty cruel. I dont mind it.. tho I do like Slade a bit better. Im not so sure if I like how james flows tho.. i think with a one syllable name it would be best to have at least a 2 syllable middle name.. but its not horrible.. Ive certainly heard worse!

And on the 'he;ll get picked on; argument, in case you havent realized the trend lately is toward unusual names.. My mom works in childcare and honestly its the jennifers, marys, johns, etc that are going to be in the minority.

also, if your looking for unique or different i certainly would NOT go with cade! Its actually quite popular in recent years and as is cayden, jayden, ayden.. and the like.

Some of the boys anmes i liked are:

Quiryn
Alequoi
Silas (but thats not so unique)
Atticus
Taliesin
Denali

Um, yeah....spade is a racial slur. Otherwise I wouldn't mind it, it sounds unique without being too bizarre. Maybe use Slade like a PP suggested, or some other variation of Spade?

First thought was deck of cards. Not a fan personally.

It's OK I would not use it.
What about Sayer
BTW: another poster mentioned "Cade" which I don't really like but I like "Cayden"
